         If we talk about Bandung, what things that come in our mind? some people said Bandung is a cool city where we can see some of tea and strawberry gardens, also, their mountains and fresh air. Bandung is the capital city of West Java province in Indonesia and this condition making Bandung as the 2nd largest metropolitan area with 8,495,928 inhabitants listed in the 2015 Badan Pusat Statistik data. It is the nation's third most populous city, with over 2.6 million (2015) and well known with its Paris Van Java, lifestyle, and also its tourist attraction.

         Besides is, actually Bandung has lot of histories to be written and known. Bandung is a city that occupied because its strategic place. Then, in this post i will share more about Bandung and its Histories. The place, the memorable day and incident, and also the landmark of Bandung itself so that we can more aware about our surrounding and be grateful to Heroes services.

Muhammad Toha, Saved Indonesia From Flame by Flame

Muhammad Toha is one of the most dedicated hero in Indonesia. He was an Indonesia guerilla revered as a hero and martyr for his act self-sacrifice during the Indonesian National Revolution. Mohammad Toha was born in Banceuy street, Bandung, on 1927. He started his education in a Volk School (Village School for Indigenous) when he was 7  years old. Unfortunately, he must forced to finish his study at the 4^th grade because of the world war 2. After that, in daily, he just helped his grandparent in Biro Sunda and learned the mechanic car in the ‘Japan vehicle repair shop’ until he could spoke in Japanese fluently. On the family and friends reviews, Muhammad Toha was a clever man, obedient to his parents, and liked by his friends. The first way that introduced Muhammad Toha to Military world was seinandan, a youth association with the aim to help the military power of Japan against the allies. Later on, after Indonesian’s independence, he joined BRI (Barisan Rakjat Indonesia) which was an organization for gathered Indonesian youth. Then, he became the first ‘attack command’ because the situation in Bandung was unpredictable. On March 1946, a big memorable incident happened in Bandung, Muhammad Toha sacrificed his self in this incident for blown up the ammunition. It caused by a Ultimatum from the British Commander for the Indonesian Combatants to leave the city. In response, the southern part of Bandung was deliberately burned down because Bandung citizens thought if they burned the city, Bandung would not became useful by the allies after the allies came to Bandung. In short, Bandung city was fired greatly and until now people still remembered Muhammad Toha’s Brave dedication and called this incident by Bandung the sea of flame.

Bandung the Sea of Flame Monument

Bandung the Sea of Flame Monument is a monument that became a landmark of Bandung city. This monument is really familiar for Bandung and West Java Citizens. We can say that it is one of the most memorable Monument in Bandung. This monument is located in Tegallega field, the center of Bandung city. In addition, not only placed in the center of Bandung city, this monument also near the biggest station in Bandung which is only 9,7 KM from Dayeuh Kolot Station (it takes 29 minutes by car). This Bandung the Sea of Flame, actually not too high. This monument has a height of 45 Meters and has 9 sides of the field. At its peak, there is a form of licking fire that leads upward. This monument color is golden yellow like a blazing fire. Talk about the establishment of this monument, this monument was established in 1981 to commemorate the historic event of Bandung the Sea of Flame. At that time, this monument was designed by Sunaryo, a contemporary artist who was also a former lecturer arts at Bandung Institute Technology. In this early 2017, the Government of Bandung City under the leadership of Mayor Ridwan Kamil renovated this Tegallega field. So, this field now become bigger and cleaner. All in all, this Monument is worthy to be a landmark of Bandung city because its unique shape and the memorable story behind it.

24^th March, Reflection of the Brave Nation

      What people think about 24^th March? Is it a tuberculosis day by United Nation? Not only that, but also for Bandung Citizens it is really memorable day. In that date, we remembered it as the reflection of the brave nation. In that day, Indonesian citizens showed that Indonesia is a independent country, they did not afraid of  the allies. 24^th March in every single year always commemorated as a Bandung the Sea of Flame day. This was inaugurated by the Government of Indonesia in 1981 as the tribute of the heroes and Bandung citizens in this  big incident. This was a hectic condition with some chronologies behind it. On 23^rd March, 200.000 Bandung citizen fired their home, then leaved to the southern of Bandung. This thing was done to prevent Allied soldiers and Dutch NICA soldiers from being able to use the Bandung city as a strategic military base. Now, Bandung already safe, and people commemorate it with some celebration in that 24^th March. For instance, some communities, youth organization, and students from High School celebrate it with Torch Parade. On the other hand, the onthel bike parade, some festivals, and a memorial service was held to commemorate this historic day. In conclusion, 24^th March is really memorable for Bandung citizen until now.
